background, training and specialties

eating disorders
While I see clients with a variety of presenting concerns, I have passion and specialty with helping those seeking to recover from eating disorders. I am a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS) since 2020. I am on a mission to help clients heal their relationships with food, their body, and ultimately themselves. I work with clients in individual therapy as well as group psychotherapy towards these ends.
Depending on individual circumstances (severity of eating concerns, length of eating disorder history, medical instability and other considerations) a treatment team may be required for our work together. Not all people working to recover from eating disorders require a treatment team, but the research on treatment outcomes is clear that treatment teams (dietitian, physician, and often group therapy) greatly facilitate, accelerate and enhance outcomes. For some clients, a treatment team is necessary for medical safety and stability as well as dietary progress. We will collaborate together to establish a treatment team as necessary. In other circumstances, a higher level of care than outpatient treatment may be indicated and I will help give referrals as needed.

body image concerns
The only guaranteed relationship we have for the entirety of our mortal existence is within our bodies. And our relationships with our bodies are often complicated and fraught. Body image is more complicated than how one perceives their body to “look.” I strive to help clients understand and heal their relationships with their bodies and build new, connected relationships based on companionship, acceptance, respect, appreciation, trust, and above all, peace.

group therapy
I am passionate about the power of group! I am a Certified Group Psychotherapist and have extensive experience and training in group psychotherapy. I regularly lead training workshops at local and national levels on effective group psychotherapy. I have consistently run groups ever since graduate school, sometimes leading as many as seven a week! Currently in my private practice I will run between one and three process groups. For more information, look at my current group offerings and reach out for more details! I believe in the unique power of group to facilitate insight, growth, connection, healing and change.

retreats
I look forward to offering intensive, experiential retreats for people interested in healing their relationship with their bodies. These retreats take place in beautiful locations across the Wasatch where individuals will find the opportunity to disconnect from their daily lives and tune more fully into themselves. A retreat offers a unique, concentrated experience for individuals to have with themselves and others. Retreats can accelerate insight, change, and healing through the deep level of work that can be accessed in this format. Retreats will include educational and experiential components. Participants in these retreats will be invited to participate in a variety of individual, small group, and whole group activities. Please contact me for details of my next offering and to join the waitlist!
trainings
I provide educational and experiential training opportunities to graduate students and clinicians in the community. These trainings can range from one hour to two full-day workshops. I regularly offer trainings at National Conferences and local universities on my favorite topics: group psychotherapy, eating disorders, and body image interventions. If interested in having me consult/train you or a group of clinicians, contact me for more information and we can collaborate together about your needs and interests!
